Truman outdone by the St. Joseph Central Indians, 6-3
Kody Mazur went 2-3, sparking the St. Joseph Central Indians to a 6-3 victory in seven innings over Truman on Monday. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
Joe Tieman got the win for the St. Joseph Central Indians. He allowed three runs over seven innings. He struck out 10, walked three and surrendered nine hits.
Gomer ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
Truman jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Combs kicked things off for Truman with a single. A groundout by Materia then moved Combs from first to second. Oswald singled, bringing home Combs. Truman added a run when Oswald scored on an RBI single by Diffey.
The lead stayed with the St. Joseph Central Indians after the fifth, when they scored one run on an RBI single by Tieman.
The St. Joseph Central Indians increased their lead with two runs in the sixth. The inning got off to a hot start when Gage Stagner doubled, plating Jacob Gill. That was followed up by Mazur’s double, scoring Stagner.
