Indians News · INDIANS MAKE BIG SPLASH WITH NEXT SWIM COACH


St. Joseph, MO – Central High School is excited to introduce Kassandra Messerly as the next head coach to lead the Central Swim program.

Coach Messerly grew up in Fort Dodge, Iowa, where she swam at Fort Dodge Senior High.  Following high school, she attended Iowa Central Community College where she qualified for the NJCAA Nationals in Indian River, Florida.

She spent four years as an assistant coach with Ames Cyclones Aquatic Club (ACAC) in Fort Dodge, where she coached novice and age group (5-12 year olds),  three years as assistant coach for the Fort Dodge Senior High girl’s swim team, and a year as the assistant for the high school boy’s team.

“We are thrilled to have someone with Coach Messerly’s experience lead our program.” stated Athletic Director Dave Lau.  “Kassie has a passion for swimming and will bring a lot of energy to the Indians.”

“I am so excited for the opportunity to coach swimming at Central High School in St. Joseph and be part of this community.”  Messerly said.  “So many great coaches have gotten me to where I am today, and I want do the same for Central High.   With my 7 years experience in this sport, my goal is to build a strong team to compete with the best the state of Missouri has to offer while developing the athletes love for swimming.   Swimming has always been a passion of mine and it very important to me.  I look forward to the upcoming season!”

Messerly’s hire is pending Board of Education approval.
