It was an awesome afternoon of tennis from the Lady Indian Squad! The girls fell behind 1-2 in doubles to start out with, but claiming a victory at the number one spot. Duo Evan Sigars and Eugenia Rodriguez-Savage defeated Platte County’s Karlee Chase and Sydney Bales 8-4.
Starting singles out down 1-2 the girls knew how important singles play would effect the out come of the match. Sophomore Kate Proper fought hard but came up short at the number four spot. Losing 6-10 to Platte County’s Emma Murray, Senior Angela Cobb also fought well and fell to Platte County’s Molly Mcbratney 1-10. With four matches still going the Lady Indians were down 1-4, with Evan Sigars, Eugenia Rodriguez-Savage, Bailey Colgan, and Caitlin Eivins still on court it was going to come down to the wire. Next off was Eugenia Rodriguez-Savage claiming a 10-4 victory at the two spot against Platte County’s Sydney Bales.After that was Bailey Colgan who claimed a solid 10-3 victory at the three slot against Platte County’s Annie Archibald.
Down 3-4 it came down to the outcome of Evan Sigars and Caitlin Eivins match. Evan was down 0-5 against Platte County’s Karlee Chase, fought back to forced a tie breaker, and came out on top with 11-10 (7-0) win to score her first win on the season! Tied at 4 a piece Caitlin Eivins came off the court shortly after securing the matching clinching win! Caitlin clinched a 10-8 victory against Platte County’s Sophie Curtis at the five slot!
The Lady Indians are back in action tomorrow, Thursday the 12th against Park Hill South at Park Hill South.
